Fight Descriptions By: Mike Thorwart , MMA Melee
Welterweight Division Andy Beil vs James Rivers WINNER

Round 1:
The fight starts off with an immediate takedown from Andy Beil. Beil was completed dominating Rivers and was giving him some hard shots to the body while controlling Rivers on the ground. For some unexplained reason the ref stands them up but it doesn’t matter. Round over. First round goes to Andy Beil, 10-9.

Round 2:
The second round starts off exactly like round one with a takedown by Beil. And just like that, not even 40 seconds into the 2nd round Beil gets a heel hook and Rivers taps immediately.

Winner via heel hook 38 seconds into the 2nd round – Andy Beil

Welterweight Division Dave Versuk vs. Jose De La Rosa Jr. WINNER

Round 1:
Versuk started out with a nice little flurry of punches right into a fantastic takedown. Versuk showed complete domination on the ground and almost ending the fight with a head and arm triangle. Moving into the mount position, he was about to sink in an arm however, the round had ended. Round one goes to Dave Versuk, 10-9.

Round 2:
There was an absolute awesome round! Some great back and forth action here! De La Rosa landed some good shots but the round ended with Versuk on top. Round 2 goes to Versuk, 10-9.

Round 3:
This round was fantastic as well. There was some great back and forth action on the ground. De La Rosa had control for the first half of this round and I thought he was going to end the fight possibly. However, out of nowhere Versuk swept him and ended the fight on top while landing knees.

The judges scored the bout 29-28, 28-29 and 29-28 and winner via a split decision – Dave Versuk.

Welterweight Division Steve Wilson vs. Chris Pintado WINNER

Round 1:
Good first round. Pintado seemed like he was in control basically the entire round but was working on submissions the entire time. Pintado ended the fight on top dropping knees to the ribs so I had to give the round to Pintado. Round 1 goes to Chris Pintado, 10-9.

Round 2:
Pintado seems to be winning the ground match. However, the entire round was basically a chess match with minimal damage done by either. Still gave this round to Pintado for cage control. Round 2 goes to Pintado, 10-9.

Round 3:
The 3rd round was absolutely dominated by Pintado.

All 3 judges scored the fight 30-27. Winner via unanimous decision – Chris Pintado

Light Heavyweight Harry Dickey vs. Owen Brieninger WINNER

Round 1:

The entire round was basically these two feeling each other out. There were a few exchanges which gave Breininger a nice little mouse under his left eye. Lots of leg kicks in this round from Breininger. The round ended with Dickey attempting a standing guillotine. Have to give that round to Dickey, 10-9.

Round 2:
Dickey’s hands look really good. His stand up looked pretty crisp in this round with a few shots landing. Dickey did get the take down and almost ending the fight by choking out Breininger. Saved by the bell. Round 2 goes to Dickey, 10-9.

Round 3:
Besides the nasty leg kicks towards the end of the round this was basically, a little bit of stand up and a little bit of leaning on the cage.

Judges scored the fight 29-28, 27-30 and 29-28 and winner via split decision – Owen Breininger

Light Heavyweight Terrill Leech vs. Pat Russo WINNER

Round 1:
I’m not really sure what happened here but this fight started off exciting. Some back and forth action and fighting for position. Russo then tried a bell to back suplex and when he hit, he broke his rib and immediately started tapping out. I hate seeing fights end like this but hey, that’s the name of the game. The announced that Leech won by tap out due to strikes but it was Russo’s rib is what made him tap.

Winner via tap out due to injury – Terrill Leech

Welterweight Division Boris Rakita vs. George Glykas WINNER

Round 1:
All I have to say about this fight is that it was quick. George Glykas looks like a beast! It didn’t take long at all for him to show his huge power up against the cage and lock on a standing guillotine choke. Rakita didn’t tap but stopped the fight when his legs started shaking uncontrollably.

Winner via standing guillotine in the first round – George Glykas

Lightweight Dwayne Shelton vs. Scott Heckman WINNER

Round 1:
Almost immediately Heckman took down Shelton for the entire round, Scott Heckman put on some serious ground and pound on Shelton. So much that the fight had to be briefly stopped to take a look at Shelton’s eye. Heckman never stopped working and was aggressive the entire time. He was trying to end the fight with ground and pound the whole time. In the last 20 seconds or so of the round Shelton did scramble and get to his feet. Shelton threw a monstrous head kick that if it would have landed it may have been lights out. May have been wasn’t good enough. End of round one with Heckman winning 10-9.

Round 2:
This round started out the same way as the 1st. Complete domination on the ground by Heckman. I actually went back and looked at the video of this fight and even though it was announced that Shelton tapped due to strikes, Heckman never landed one punch once Shelton was slammed down. As like the Terrill Leech and Pat Russo fight it looked like Shelton’s ribs were hurt when he was slammed down and he tapped immediately before anymore damage could be done.

Winner via tap out due to injury – Scott Heckman

Main Event -
WCC Heavyweight Championship
Steven Banks vs. Carmello Marrero WINNER

Round 1:
Marrero took Banks down pretty quickly into the first round. Marrero was certainly staying busy the entire round. Landing some shots in Banks’ guard but not really able to land that huge fight ending hit. He certainly landed some good shots though. Marrero eventually got Banks’ back and it looked like it was maybe going to end there with a rear naked choke, Banks’ had some good defense and fought it off until the bell rang. Marrero wins round one, 10-9.

Round 2:
The second round started off with a head kick from Banks. After that it looked like he was sinking in a choke but very quickly Merrero got an awesome takedown which looked like he just simply overpowered Banks. From there Marrero controlled the fight with a little bit of ground and pound. Eventually, Banks’ gave up his back and Marrero sunk in a neck crank to which Banks tapped immediately to.

Winner and new WCC Heavyweight Champion - Carmello Marerro
